Dickinson County Trails Board rules for Ebikes

Cities are having a lot of conversations concerning E-bikes, so Erin Reed shared the DCTB’s policy on the Use of the trails and Power-Driven Mobility Devices.  This policy primarily follows the State of Iowa Code, and the principal policy is a maximum speed of 20 MPH for all modes.  Also included on this page is additional information about different classes of E-bikes and an article about how E-motos are different. E-motos are not allowed on Dickinson County Trails.

Always put safety first and show courtesy to everyone who uses the trails, including riders and walkers. Please ensure children and teens understand trail rules and know how to share the path before allowing them to use scooters or e-bikes anywhere.   Announce yourself to others using the trail by stating “on your right”, etc.  You should also obey all traffic rules the same as a vehicle.
