Garbage Pickup

Garbage pickup is provided by the City of Orleans for residential services only.  No containers should weigh more than 50 pounds.

Pickup is curbside on Mondays and Thursdays May thru September and Mondays only October thru April.  Garbage is to be placed by the curb by 7:00 a.m.

A City recycling bin is located at 140th Street, Orleans, one block South and 1/2 block East of City Hall.

NOTE: Town and Country garbage cans are provided to each residence by the City of Orleans free of charge.  Orleans currently does not bill residents for garbage pickup.  In the event a residence is sold, the bin should remain with the property.

Recycling

The city provided recycling bin is located on 140th St. one block South of City Hall & one-half block East. This is for residential use only for Orleans and Dickinson County Residents. Plastic, metal, glass & cardboard items are accepted. Please DO NOT leave anything on the ground or around bin.  Do not leave liquor bottles or cans at the location.  If you wish to donate to the Chamber, there is a trailer located at the back of the recycling site, where you can place your redemption bottles and cans inside of.  You can also take them to Hy-Vee where there is a donation trailer on the northeast side of the building.  

Landscape Waste

The Cities of Orleans and Spirit Lake offer the landscape waste site located East of Orleans on 140th St (on North side of road). The site hours of operation are Saturdays 9-5, Sundays 1-5, & Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-7 and will have an attendant on site. You will need your Water Utility billing showing your address to utilize this site. You MUST be a resident to access the site. No large branches, trees, or tree trunks greater than six” will be accepted. (These larger items can be taken to the Dickinson County Recycling Center and A34 East of Milford.) There is no cost for Orleans residents and property owners to use this facility so please use it responsibly. NO COMMERCIAL USE ALLOWED. Questions? Please contact City of Spirit Lake at 712-336-1871

Quiet Hours

The City of Orleans has established quiet hours for all City Parks, Camping areas and Public Accesses.

The hours designated as "quiet hours" in the City of Orleans are 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

Water

The City of Orleans contracts with Iowa Lakes Regional Water. Billing comes through the City of Spirit Lake.

New residents should contact Iowa Lakes Regional Water at (712) 262-8847 for connection or turn on of services.
