What days is recycling picked up and What is and isn’t Recyclable in Orleans

Recycling is collected on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. Please avoid overloading your container to avoid recycling being blown out and through the neighborhoods. 

ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE RINSED AND CLEAN. Labels should be removed. 

Accepted items:   Paper Products: newspapers, magazines, office paper, junk mail, all cardboard, paper bags (no plastic bags), Metal Cans: aluminum cans, steel or tin cans, empty aerosol cans and Plastic: #1-#7, Plastic bottles, #2 Plastic Food Containers. All lids should be removed and discarded.

Not Accepted items: NO Motor Oil Bottles, NO Glass Bottles and NO plastic bags.  

Plastic bags may be recycled at Walmart and HyVee. They are not accepted in the city’s recycling containers.
